Book launch and signing event on Martha’s Vineyard

UPDATE! The location for the BOOK LAUNCH & SIGNING on July 2nd has been changed. The talk by Joe Alves, the showing of “Inside JAWS” & Carol Fligor’s 8mm home movies will now take place in the Federated Church in Edgartown at 45 South Summer Street. The reception and book signing will be held at the Martha’s Vineyard Museum around the corner at 59 School Street.

Join the Island community and JAWS enthusiasts from around the world for the official launch of the new book, “JAWS: Memories from Martha’s Vineyard.” The book, comprised of photographs and memories of Islanders closest to the legendary movie, also includes additional material from noted JAWS personnel: Joe Alves, Carl Gottlieb, Shari Rhodes, Roy Arbogast, and more as well as a foreword by JAWS director Steven Spielberg.

Event will feature:

  • A lecture on the making of JAWS by JAWS Production Designer Joe Alves
  • A narration and screening of Carol Fligor’s JAWS behind-the-scenes movie
  • A rare screening of the 1975 JAWS slideshow from Joseph C. Hazen Jr.
  • A book signing with Author Matt Taylor, Contributor Jim Beller, Production Designer Joe Alves, and Vineyard locals involved in the movie

$20 tickets. Books available for purchase. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.
